Met with my good friend Steve as we do everyone so often around Los Angeles. We have been on several photowalks and that is exactly how we met many years ago. Sometimes we meet and discuss business, other times we just shoot the shit. We have several interests in which we are vested and passionate….
I’ve always loved exploring the streets of Los Angeles through photowalks — it’s been a big part of my photography journey. It all started back in 2000 when my daughter Sasha was born (she graduated college in 2022!). I picked up a basic point-and-shoot digital camera to capture family moments, and I’ve been documenting life…
One of my photos from a photowalk (see photos here) with my friends in the Los Angeles downtown skidrow. I used to go out quite often with a small group of other photographers and just take photos of both buildings, people, and skylines. While not paying much attention to what “is in” around photography and…
In the pre-COVID days going places and just hanging out was something we used to do. This is Jackie in a Malibu shopping center. I miss going out with my camera and just walking around, drinking coffee, and feeling alive. When I go through my archives I always seem to find photos that luckily were…
Well, one way or another I got into making my own sourdough bread at home. It actually started with my interest in fermenting kefir which I did for a few years before cutting down my dairy intake. Making sourdough bread requires a starter which is fermented flour. Sourdough Bread Getting a sourdough starter going was…
There was a time when almost all my photowalks were with a film camera. I really liked and enjoyed having a simple point & shoot camera & not able to see what I took a picture of until much later. So, just walking through the streets of Los Angeles downtown I saw this unfolding. I…
On one of the photowalks back in 2013, we took a train to Boyle Heights and the Mariachi Plaza. This is the place where people “rent” mariachi bands. Also, the tourists take photos with mariachi bands. I’ve been on several photowalks during that time and Los Angeles downtown. I really did not feel the fear…
I keep writing about going on photowalks as this is the time and place where my photography has had the most growth. Film Photography Also, I keep reminiscing about using an old Leica M6 and film as my favorite photos were taken both during photowalks and with a film camera. The industry keeps on telling…
Many times I have been on photowalks with my friends. Learning and interacting with other photographers as well as meeting strangers. Disney Hall Many times we go downtown as there are not many people walking in Los Angeles. Downtown is the place where people do actually walk. Most of the walks were on weekends and…
This is one of the photos from many photowalks I had with my friends that I met through Google+. Now G+ is on the cutting board, and I have not been there in a few years. I dont miss it either….. I did, however, meet a few great people. I went on one of the…
Out of the photowalks with my friend Lorne we walked on Hollywood twice. The first time it was in the evening on one of the drinking and photography walks. The second was the time I had a Meetup group and we met near Hollywood and Highland. Hollywood and Highland After the photowalk me and Lorne…
Death Valley in California is one of the magic places on the planet. There is a story behind the trip. A few years ago and during one of the many photowalks with my photography friends I asked if anyone was interested in going to Death Valley for 2 nights. At least 4 people said yes…
A couple of kids having a good time in the Los Angeles downtown area. He was asking a few questions after I took this photo. Although, he seems angry both of them were quite nice as we talked for a few minutes about Los Angeles and where to go. Photography Walks This photograph was taken…
Had a chance to go out with Lorne and my good friend Steve. It has beeen about 2 years since I’ve been to Art Walk in downtown LA. We used to go there almost every month on photowalks. I drove the early in the afternoon before traffic ground to a halt. Would you imagine it…
The last frame from Leica M6 which I sold a few years ago. Taken on a photowalk with my friends in downtown a few years ago.
